Apr 21, 2009 (newstodate): The Israeli carrier El Al is reportedly in talks with Montenegro's government over acquisition of a stake in Montenegro Airlines.
El Al will reportedly acquire 30 percent of the shares in Montenegro Airlines that will need an injection of fresh capital to cover for its crucial operating loss in 2008.
At this stage, Montenegro's government is however also talking to other parties, including the Slovenian carrier Adria Airways and a Russian party.
Montenegro Airlines currently operates a fleet of one Embraer 195 and five Fokker F100 aircraft and will need fresh cash to maintain its fleet.
