Apr 02, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuanian cargo handling and GSSA company Interekspresas, based at Palanga Airport, is upbeat about prospects for increased cargo business at the airport.
The bright prospects are spurred by the introduction of airBaltic's new route between Palanga, Lithuania, and Riga, Latvia, from April 1, 2009.
The route will be operated eight times weekly with Fokker 50 aircraft.
-Freight handling of airBaltic's flights will be performed by Interekspresas that will also be responsible for cargo sales, says Gintaras Streikus, Interekspresas managing director.
-As airBaltic has many interline agreements with carriers, we expect much cargo with this new airline customer that transfers cargo through its hub at Riga Airport, says Mr Streikus.
