Apr 08, 2009 (newstodate): Latvian carrier airBaltic is planning to increase frequency on its new route from April 1, 2009, between Riga and Palanga, Lithuania.
The route has been opened with eight weekly rotations, but airBaltic will add two more weekly flights from June 1, 2009.
According to the carrier, the new Palanga flights have already attracted huge interest from Western Europe, especially Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Copenhagen, and the Mediterranean region, in particular Barcelona, Rome, Milan, warranting the introduction of more flights on the route.
Currently airBaltic operates six daily flights on the route between Riga and Vilnius, Lithuania, but starting from April 15, an additional flight will be operated by bigger aircraft Boeing 737 instead of the current Fokker 50 services.
At the same time, airBaltic will cancel flights from Vilnius to Stockholm as of April 10), to Munich as of April 15, and to Milan as of April 16.
Instead, airBaltic will carry passengers to and from these destinations via Riga, Latvia.
