Apr 16, 2009 (newstodate): Hungarian low-cost carrier WIZZ Air has contracted Honeywell to provide safety avionics and mechanical products to reduce costs and improve fuel efficiency.
The new equipment will be installed on the carrier's 70 new Airbus A320 family aircraft that will delivered from 2009 till 2014, with an optional 25 aircraft to be delivered between 2014 and 2016.
The advanced avionics suite includes the IntuVue radar system, Honeywell's 3-D weather radar, EGPWS, ACAS II, ADIRS and other systems.
Wizz Air also selected Honeywell's 131-9A APU, which provides enhanced fuel efficiency and low cost of ownership.
Wizz Air's aircraft fleet currently comprises 22 Airbus A320 aircraft operating from ten bases in Poland - Katowice, Warsaw, Gdansk and Poznan -Budapest, Sofia, Kiev and Romania's Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara.
