Apr 27, 2009 (newstodate): Work is progressing on modernisation of Grozny Airport, in Russia's Chechnya Republic.
In the process of completion are works on the airport's three runways, slated for completion by August this year.
An international terminal with border control posts is also being constructed, and the airport's status will be raised to international once this project has been completed during summer 2009.
Ownership of the airport has been transferred from federal to regional level, with the runway infrastructure remaining under federal control and budgets.
