Apr 07, 2009 (newstodate): Finnair ended March 2009 with a 17.5 percent decline in total cargo volumes, compared to 2008.
The carrier handled 7,562 tonnes of cargo, including 7,299 tonnes of cargo on scheduled flights, down 17.2 percent, 116 tonnes on leisure flights, up 229 percent, and 146 tonnes on scheduled cargo charters, down 53.4 percent, y-o-y.
The volumes were as always dominated by the carrier's Asian traffic that generated 4,830 tonnes, down 22.1 percent.
In this year's Q1 Finnair cargo has handled a total of 20,228 tonnes of cargo, a decline by 19.6 percent, including 12,711 tonnes of Asian cargo that was down 22.8 percent.
