Apr 21, 2009 (newstodate): Following on the bankruptcy of the Lithuanian airline flyLAL by January 17, 2009, the flyLAL Group is now taking on a new name, Avia Solutions Group AB managed by director general Linas Dovydenas, and formulating a new strategy.
flyLAL Group Services has thus announced the start of the new business strategy implementation, aiming at becoming a provider of integrated aviation service solutions.
Along with this new phase of business development, the names of several service providing companies as well as the name of the whole aviation business group are being changed.
flyLAL Group Services UAB, which joins the group of companies together, changes its name to Avia Solutions Group, the aircraft crew training company flyLAL Training changes its name to Baltic Aviation Academy UAB, and the aircraft technical maintenance company flyLAL Technics will become FL Technics AB.
Avia Solutions Group AB owns seven aviation services companies: Avia Asset Management, Baltic Ground Services, BPC Travel, flyLAL Charters, FL Technics, Baltic Aviation Academy, and Passenger Terminal.
The companys production capacity - training and repair facilities and aircraft park - currently remain concentrated in Lithuania, but eventually, after expanding the range of services, additional resources in other countries will be established as well.
The group provides its services in both Lithuania and foreign countries including Russia and Ukraine and plans to establish a new office in Kazakhstan.
The Avia Solutions Group aims at further expansion of the client base in the growing markets of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS.
By this strategic move and change of name, the Avia Solutions Group has distanced itself from the bankrupt flyLAL airline and its creditors.
