APR 30, 2009 (newstodate): After the recent consolidation in Russia's civil aviation, the country now has a total of 170 airlines.
-15 of these airlines, however, account for 75 percent of all passengers transported, Aeroflot Dep director general Lev Koshliakov said at the Riga Airport conference on April 29.
-In Q1, 2009, the drop in Russia's passenger volumes was 30 percent, while Aeroflot declined in volumes by 15-16 percent. This means that we were still able to gain in market share, especially on domestic routes, said Mr Koshliakov.
-Hopes are now that the coming summer's traffic will make up for the losses so far accumulated, to save this year's full results. Eventually we do not expect to reach last year's record levels, said Mr Koshliaklov.
