APR 30, 2009 (newstodate): The end is in sight for Aeroflot-Cargo as an independent company - a subsidiary of Aeroflot.
At yesterday's airport conference in Riga, Latvia, news broke that Aeroflot plans to re-integrate its cargo business as was the case before the separation of Aeroflot-Cargo early in 2006 with Andrey Goryashko as director general.
-The decision was wrong, and the separation process was mismanaged by Aeroflot Cargo, says Lev Koshliakov, Aeroflot Dep Director General Public Affairs.
-The result has been that Aeroflot has ended up with the debts, while Aeroflot Cargo has ended up with the assets. Still, the company is in financial troubles and the Board will discuss how to solve this.
-With cargo separated from the airline, we have now two organisations doing practically the same thing, says Mr Koshliakov.
Plans are that the cargo business will be returning to the mother company, Aeroflot, before the end of this year.
