Mar 06, 2009 (newstodate): Having long abrogated all flights between them, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have now reached agreement to restore air services.
The air traffic between the two ex-Soviet republics was severed in 1992 as tensions built up in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet empire.
Resumption of air services requires the two countries to settle the last remaining snags before the final implementation of an intergovernmental agreement, but operations are expected to be launched shortly.
