Mar 20, 2009 (newstodate): Serbia's JAT has reportedly acquired a major stake in MAT Macedonian Airlines.
The Macedonian carrier has long been known to be in dire financial conditions requiring a major capital injection, and is currently operating only one Boeing 737 aircraft from its main base at Skopje Internaitonal Airport.
It has so far not been announced if the stake is a majority in the Macedonian airline, but through the deal MAT has covered its debts to the Serbian carrier.
