Mar 24, 2009 (newstodate): After months of declining traffic due to the demise of flyLAL, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport is welcoming at least one positive sign of spring.
The Russian carrier UTAir will add a second daily flight on its route between Moscow Vnukovo Airport and Vilnius from March 29, 2009.
The carrier uses ATR42 aircraft on the route.
Today Vilnius Airport has only 23 daily flight operations compared to 57 before flyLAL folded its wings.
Currently only nine out of EU's total of 27 capitals can now be reached by direct flights from Vilnius as several operators have pulled out of the Lithuanian market or reduced frequency on their routes.
