Mar 26, 209 (newstodate): By June 2009, work will start on development of Poland's Wroclaw Copernicus Airport.
The project will be supported by EU funds, and the full project will be completed by September 2011.
On the table are plans for extension by 500 m of the current 2,500 m runway and a new taxiway system, construction of a new passenger terminal, in addition to revamped approach roads and new parking facilities.
The modernisation will lift the airport's annual capacity to two mio passengers against the current capacity at 1.2 mio.
In 2008 the airport handled a total of 1,105 tonnes of cargo, and in the first two months of this year totals are 164 tonnes.
