Mar 30, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius Airport is looking forward to at least some recurrection of air traffic from the start of the new summer schedules.
The route network from Vilnius Airport was badly hurt by the demise on January 17, 2009, of the national carrier flyLAL and the decision by several airlines to pull out temporarily due to low market demands.
New from today are four weekly flights by Brussels Airlines between Brussels and Vilnius, to be followed by Aeroflot flights from Moscow Sheremetyevo and increased frequency on UTAir's route between Moscow Vnukovo and Vilnius.
Ukraine's Donbassaero Airlines has operated flights between Vilnius and Kiev since February 24 and will continue operations during the summer schedule, while Bulgaria Air will launch flights from May 31, 2009, between Vilnius and Varna.
