Mar 06, 2009 (newstodate): Reflecting the strengthened position of Latvia's Riga Airport in the Baltic region, the airport's cargo volumes continued to rise in February, 2009.
In February, the airport handled a total of 651 tonnes of cargo, up 7.7 percent, y-o-y.
Following January's 19.7 percent growth to 613 tonnes, the airport now shows a cargo growth by 13.7 percent after the first two months of this year.
Though not shown in the figures, the airport's cargo volumes are espedially driven by transfer cargo by Latvian airline airBaltic coming in from Lithuania after the grounding of flyLAL that has left a void in the country's air services.
