Mar 23, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's civil aviation is severely hit by the current world economic crisis, as shown by the latest traffic figures from January/February 2009.
During the first two months of this year, cargo loads dropped 39.2 percent, while passenger volumes were down 21.7 percent, y-o-y.
In total, Russian carriers lifted 72,570 tonnes of cargo and mail, as well as 4.8 mio passengers.
The cargo load factor was thus down 0.4 percent to 57.9, while the passenger load factor declined by 1.8 percent, to 66.
