Mar 10, 2009 (newstodate): The world's first operator of the converted Bombardier Q400 freighter, Swedish airline Nord-Flyg has landed its first customer for the aircraft.
Starting from April 6, 2009, the German air freight consolidator AFC, based at Munich, will introduce the aircraft on routes to connect Maastricht and Weeze via the Baden-Airpark in Southern Germany with Madrid-Barajas, Spain.
AFC considers this connection, based on a one-year contract with Nord-Flyg, as the first project, planning to implement a European-wide network at a later stage.
Nord-Flyg will bring further ex-SAS converted Q400F aircraft into service during 2009/2010, and AFC has signed a LoI covering the use of one of these aircraft as well.
