Mar 10, 2009 (newstodate): Finnair has decided to suspend services on its route between Helsinki and Mumbai, India.
Citing low market demands especially during the summer season, Finnair will suspend services on the route from May till mid-October, 2009.
The carrier launched its services to Mumbai on June 26, 2007, and currently provides four weekly rotations alongside its Delhi-services that will however continue during the summer season.
As late as in November, 2008, the carrier was still reported to be mulling plans for a opening a third Indian destination in 2009, considering either Bangalore or Chennai where the Finnish producer of telecom equipment, Nokia has extensive production sites.
Another Nordic carrier, SAS has decided to pull out from the Indian market entirely, offering its last flight between Copenhagen Delhi in March, 2009, leaving Finnair alone again in the region.
