MAr 30, 2009 (newstodate): On March 26, Finnair took delivery of its first new Airbus A330.
The A330 aircraft will be introduced on the carrier's shorter long-haul routes, such as from Helsinki to New York and Delhi as well as on the Seoul and Nagoya routes where cargo demand is lower.
The first commercial flight with the A330 will take place from Helsinki to Oulu and Kittil� on March 30, and the first longhaul flight with A330 is scheduled for April 6, 2009, from Helsinki to New York.
Out of the total of eight Airbus A330 aircraft ordered, Finnair will receive a total of five aircraft in 2009, with the next A330 aircraft to be delivered in April, May and June 2009, and the final three are slated to arrive in 2010.
Finnair also operates five Airbus A340 aircraft, and has placed orders for delivery from 2014 of 11 Airbus A350 with options for a further four aircraft.
With the delivery of the new Airbus A330-300, the Finnair fleet now includes 35 Airbus aircraft: 11 A319, 12 A320, six A321, five A340 and the first A330 aircraft that is leased from Air Europe for use on charter operations.
