Mar 31, 2009 (newstodate): Vagar Airport A/S, managing the Vagar Airport at the Faroe Islands, is calling for consultancy through a tender now opened and running till May 11, 2009.
The airport will launch its long-awaited project for extension of the runway by 350m to 1,600m, which will allow for Airbus A320/Boeing 737 operations without the current take-off weight restrictions severely restricting airfreight potentials.
The project must be completed before the delivery by the end of 2011 of the first Airbus A319 aircraft to Atlantic Airways that provides the bulk of the air traffic.
The airport company has also appointed Einar Brimnes as project coordinator from April 15, 2009.
