M;Ar 09, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport is feeling the impact from the world economic downturn.
In January 2009, the airport saw its passenger volumes down by 22 percent, y-o-y, to 108,468 passengers.
The airport's cargo volumes also dropped significantly, declining 30.5 percent, y-o-y, to 836 tonnes.
International cargo was, however, up by 41.6 percent, y-o-y, to 194 tonnes.
Behind the decline was the demise of several carriers that were declared bankrupt, as well as reductions in frequency on several routes by S7 Sibir Airlines.
