Feb 19, 2009 (newstodate): In 2008, Russia's Volga-Dnepr was again the country's dominating cargo carrier, handling a total of 136,6587 tonnes of cargo, international and domestic combined.
The position was earned within international cargo, where Volga-Dnepr lifted a total of 135,796 tonnes of cargo.
Counting domestic cargo alone, the top position was earned by S7 Siberia Airlines that lifted 36,806 tonnes of cargo on intra-Russian routes.
The Volga-Dnepr Group's AirBridgeCargo Airlines was second in international and domestic cargo combined, noting a total of 131,137 tones of cargo, which was also almost entirely international cargo - 131,028 tonnes.
Third on the list of carriers with international/domestic cargo came Aeroflot with 87,945 tonnes of cargo, 57,518 tonnes of which were international cargo, while 30,427 tonnes were domestic cargo, making Aeroflot #2 in domestic cargo loads in 2008.
Statistics from the Russian Transport Settlement Agency do not report on the freighter loads of Aeroflot Cargo, Aeroflot's dedicated cargo subsidiary, only including Aeroflot's belly cargo volumes.
