Feb 23, 2009 (newstodate): The Polish carrier LOT is planning for a return to Serbia after some 10 years of suspension of services.
If final permission is granted by Serbia's Civil Aviation Directorate, LOT plans to start flights between Warsaw and Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport from May 4, 2009.
Plans are to offer five weekly flights with Embraer 150 aircraft.
The flights will be timed to match onward services by LOT to destinations in North America - a market still off-limits to Serbian carriers as the country is still rated Category 2 by FAA due to the country's deficiencies in compliance with air safety regulations.
