Feb 2, 2009 (newstodate): EASA has approved the Russian carrier Ural Airlines to perform aircraft maintenance of own Airbus aircraft.
The EASA certificates allow for Ural Airlines, based at Yekaterinburg, to perform transit, daily and weekly line checks and A-checks of Airbus A320 using its own station, rather than having to use the services of other certified companies.
So far Aeroflot and S7 Airlines have been the only Russian airlines with similar certificates.
In 2008, Ural Airlines took delivery of four Airbus A320, bringing its fleet to a total of six new Airbus aircraft.
Ural Airlines will take an additional four new A320 aircraft in 2009, arriving before summer, and allowing the airline to further expand its route network.
