Feb 16, 2009 (newstodate): The Vnukovo-based Russian carrier Atlant-Soyuz has reportedly failed to meet its obligations for acquisition of five Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The bank in charge of the financing of the contract with the leasing company has consequently raised the interest on the loan, and the airline will not be allowed to operate the aircraft before a settlement has been reached, sources say.
The carrier plans to replace its eight IL-86 with 12-15 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with the first three IL-86 aircraft to be phased-out in February-March, 2009.
