Feb 19, 2009 (newstodate): MAT Macedonian Airlines is in trouble as only one aircraft is currently available to serve its network.
The carrier, based at Skopje, has its single CRJ-900 aircraft in for maintenance at Bombardier's technical base located in Ljubljana till June, 2009, leaving only one Boeing 737-300 available for operations.
The carrier is thus forced to sling its single aircraft around its network, leading to more en-route stops.
Also bothering the aircraft is a sustained ban on operations into Germany due to a massive debt pile at Eurocontrol.
The carrier is also said to be under pressure to change its name due to pressure from Greece over rights to fly the national designation of "Macedonia".
