Feb 4, 2009 (newstodate): Latvian carrier airBasltic plans to increase its penetration of the Lithuanian air transport market.
The carrier has reportedly announced plans to lanuch 12 weekly flights from Palanga, on Lithuania's Baltic coast, to Riga in Latvia, connecting to airBaltic's onward European flights.
airBaltic also operates 37 weekly flights between Vilnius, Lithuania, and Riga in addition to 10 daily flights from Vilnius to European destinations.
The new move follows on the collapse of Lithuania's own airline, flyLAL.
