Feb 16, 2009 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's Almaty Airport is fighting back against allegations that its new runway has not helped increase its operational record.
According to the airport, only 0.1 percent of flights destined for Almaty Airport were redirected to alternate airports for operational reasons.
On the other hand the airport claims that its role as a bad-weather alternative to other airports in the region has increased from 28 cases in 2007 to 42 cases in 2008.
