Feb 27, 2009 (newstodate): Iceland's air cargo volumes are on the rise again, seen from the desk of one Icelandic freight forwarder.
-Compared to half a year ago, volumes through our company are rising significantly again, says Bjarni Steinar Bjarnason, Icetransport manager sales & marketing.
-Import volumes are now 20-25 percent up, while export volumes are about 80 percent up, meaning that the Icelandic market is recovering fast.
-Many Icelandic companies are now back in their former markets, and the general trend is positive, of course depending on the specific sectors.
-I would estimate that we are fully back on track again in some two or three months from now. While the current crisis has indeed been more severe than anything in the past, Icelanders are used to crisis and fluctuations and bent on recovering again, says Mr Bjarnason.
