Feb 12, 2009 (newstodate): The current deep crisis in Russia's civil aviation industry may force one out of every fifth airline out of business, according to Russia's minister of transportation.
According to the minister, the best option for debt-ridden Russian airlines is to merge, spurring the trend towards further consolidation in the debt-ridden industry.
It is now also announced that the new airline, Roasvia set up in the wake of AiRUnion's demise will comprise only seven and not 11 airlines as earlier predicted.
Among the airlines deleted from participation in Rosavia are Krasair, Domododevo Airlines and Samara Airlines.
