Feb 9, 2009 (newstodate): Italy is becoming the scene for a new chapter in European aviation.
Following on national carrier Alitalia's troubles and down-sized resurrection, European carriers are stepping in to gain a share in the potent market.
After the launch of Lufthansa Italy at Milan Malpensa Airport from February, 2009, offering passenger flights to Barcelona, Brussels, Budapest, Bucharest and Madrid, Cargolux has now announced its decision to start operations from April, 2009, also from Milan Malpensa Airport.
Cargolux has entered into a strategic partnership in Italy to create Cargolux Italia for intercontinental all-cargo services.
Cargolux Italia has applied for a business license and certification with the Italian civil aviation authority, aiming to become a fully certified Italian all-cargo carrier once the permits are issued.
