Feb 16, 2009 (newstodate): Albania's Tirana International Airport noted significant progress and development in cargo volumes in 2008.
The airport handled a total of 1,987 tonnes of cargo in 2008, up 17.2 percent, y-o-y.
13 airlines, including Adria Airways, Albanian Airlines, Alitalia, Aegean Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Belle Air, British Airways, Bulgarian Airlines, Lufthansa, Malev Hungarian Airlines, Olympic Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Sky Express, are now operating at Tirana Internaiotnal Airport, connecting the Albanian capital city with 32 destinations, including flights to Thessaloniki and Zagreb, inaugurated in the latter half of last year.
Almost all flights are, however, performed with smaller aircraft typpes, allowing for limited belly cargo capacity.
