Dec 07, 2009 (newstodate): Ukraine plans to enter the European Common Aviation Area in 2014.
The country's aviation authority expects to admission into ECAA to significantly boost Ukraine's passenger and cargo volumes, not least due to the expected positive impact on low-cost operators' further advance in the market.
Expectations are also that by then all Ukrainean airports will have been transformed into public limited companies.
In the first nine months of this year, Ukraine saw passenger volumes rising, reaching 4.1 million, while a total of 61,500 tonnes of cargo and mail was carried.
Ukraine now has 33 passenger airlines and 18 cargo carriers.
