Dec 08, 2009 (newstodate): By October, wheels had begun spinning again for Finnair Cargo - but a strike in November set volume growth back again.
In November, the carrier handled a total of 8,190 tonnes of cargo, 0.3 percent down on last year.
The Asian traffic was up only 4.8 percent, y-o-y, to 8,585 tonnes, while volumes on the European traffic declined by 3.7 percent to 1,571 tonnes.
On the North Atlantic traffic, volumes were 671 tonnes, up a meagre 0.8 percent.
During the first 11 months of this year, Finnair Cargo generated a total of 85,105 tonnes of cargo, which is 13.9 percent down on last year.
Outlook for December is probably no better as strikes on the ground at Helsinki have again hit the carrier as unions protest against decisions on outsourcing of terminal handling and other services.
