Dec 11, 2009 (newstodate): The Slovakian airline Danube Wings, based at Bratislava, is spreading its wings.
Starting from December 1, 2009, the carrier has launched regular flights from Poprad/Tatry Airport to London, Dublin and Manchester, introducing a wet-leased Boeing 737-400 from Czech Airlines.
Danube Wings, a trademark of VIP Wings, has also announced several new routes for the upcoming summer including seasonal destinations in Italy and Spain.
The company plans to launch a local line from Bologna, and shall seasonally also fly from Basel to Venice and Balaton.
In addition, direct flights between Bologna and Poprad/Tatry shall be reintroduced this summer as well.
Also in the plans, but pending decisions on the carrier's aircraft fleet in 2010, is the launch of flights from Bratislava to Thessaloniki, Greece, as well as the establishment of a connection between Paris and Bratislava.
Danube Winds now operates flights to 12 destinations in six countries, using a fleet so far comprising three ATR-72 as well as one Boeing 737-400 aircraft.
