Dec 07, 2009 (newstodate): Construction works have started at Poland's Lodz Wladyslaw Reymont International Airport.
The airport is building a new 21,500m² passenger terminal III allowing for handling of some 1.5 mio passengers annually, and a new ATC tower.
Both projects are slated for commissioning in May 2011.
In 2008 the airport finished work on a new apron area enabling Lodz Airport to operate as a backup airport for Warsaw as well as other regional airports.
The airport is also targeting a future as cargo airport, aiming at serving large industrial companies, including Dell, that are located in the region.
