Dec 16, 2009 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has landed a contract with the Irish postal company, An Post, for carriage of Irish mail to the Baltic region.
The contract comprises the carriage of mail between Ireland and Riga in Latvia, Vilnius in Lithuania and Tallinn in Estonia sent three times per week on airBaltic's weekly services between Riga and Dublin.
-We are talking modest traffic levels, amounting to around 36 tonnes annually. But this is the first time airBaltic has won business from An Post, and we are very pleased both with the contract and also with the welcome additional revenue, says Ian McCool, Managing Director of IAM, airBaltic's cargo GSSA in the Irish market.
