Dec 16, 2009 (newstodate): Mystery surrounds an IL-76 freighter arrested by the Thai police at Bangkok.
Details are that the aircraft landed without payload at Ukraine's Kiev Airport by early December, continued to Baku, Azerbaijan, still without payload on December 8
The aircraft then continued via a Gulf airport to North Korea, and then emerged on December 12 in Bangkok where the police detected a discrepancy between the load sheet and shipments documentation and the cargo that consisted of Chinese-made weapons.
No-one has since claimed ownership of the cargo, and the owenership of the aircraft has not been established either, sources say.
Other sources claim that the aircraft belongs to an operator in Georgia. that may also be the end destination of the aborted flight.
