Dec 17, 2009 (newstodate): The Hungarian LCC, WIZZ Air is to expand its grip on the Polish market in 2010.
In 2009, Wizz Air carried 3.6 million passengers in Poland and plans to expand the customer base to 4.7 million passengers in 2010.
To facilitate this huge expansion, the carrier will increase to 14 Airbus A320 aircraft by March 2010, and following the earlier announced expansions in Gdansk and Warsaw as well as the opening of the Wroclaw base, WIZZ Air will also expand operations in Katowice by adding a new aircraft in March 2010.
Also in March 2010, WIZZ Air will start operating at Lodz, the 6th Polish airport on the carrier's Polish network that will comprise 86 routes by summer 2010.
WIZZ Air, set up in 2003, launched flights on May 19, 2004, from Poland's Katowice, shortly after Poland and Hungary became members of EU.
