Dec 11, 2009 (newstodate): Hopes are increasing for restoration of direct air services between Russia and Georgia.
All direct aviation links were severed between the two countries after the military clash in 2006, forcing travelers between Georgia and Russia to transit via Armenia and other alternatives.
Both the Russian and lately also the Georgian presidents have now aired intentions to re-open direct air links that may be coming early in 2010.
