Dec 15, 2009 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo has out-sourced its domestic cargo business to logistics provider Jetpak Finland OY.
From February 1, 2010, Jetpak will take over the belly-hold cargo capacity on Finnair's aircraft on domestic routes, and undertake all sales, marketing and booking operations.
Jetpak will pay a flat rate for utilizing the cargo capacity, while pocketing the sales revenues.
-Finnair operates rather small aircraft on the domestic route network, and cannot therefore lift larger shipments. Also the country is not that big, and road transportation is therefore always a viable alternative, says Anja Poyhonen, Finnair Cargo Area Director Nordic.
For Jetpak, the out-sourcing solution will provide enhanced capability to offer critical express services within Finland.
After February 2010, Finnair Cargo will have its entire focus on air cargo on its European, US and - not least - Far Eastern route network.
