Dec 04, 2009 (newstodate): Finland is moving towards launch of IATA e-freight capability by Q1, 2010.
The IATA e-freight Finland project, managed by Finnair Cargo, which started last spring, has just moved to the test phase with two forwarding agents.
-Location gap analysis and business processes have been checked and e-freight operational procedures for Helsinki location have been created on our Hong Kong route, says an airline spokesperson.
-Now during the pilot phase the shipments are still accompanied by paper documents in a sealed plastic bag, but when the e-freight is moved into production we will reach the goal of paperless freight with electronic AWBs only.
The route Helsinki-Hong Kong has been selected as the first lane to be opened for Finland's e-freight implementation.
