Dec 02, 20909 (newstodate): The Czech state has not written-off its plans to privatize Prague Ruzyne Airport.
The decision follows on the aborted attempt to sell the debt-ridden Czech national carrier, CSA in a tender that was finally canceled in October, 2009, as no serious bidders eventually turned up.
The airline privatization process was opened in January, 2009, with 91.5 percent of the shares put up for sale and drew immediate interest from parties including Air France, Aeroflot, the Czech private equity group Penta, and the US investment group Odien Group - that all withdrew after closer looks into the books of CSA.
The Czech parliament's lower house has now approved a bill to confirm that only the state can be the owner of Prague Ruzyne Airport.
The reason remains the same: in today's depressed aviation environment no serious investor is prone to placing money in airlines or airports.
