Dec 22, 2009 (newstodate): Air Canada is planning for yet another return to Copenhagen, opening a direct non-stop flight from Toronto from Summer 2010.
The new daily service, the only one between Denmark and Canada, will be served daily from June 25, 2010, using Boeing 676-300Er aircraft.
The route will facilitate on-award transfers to Canadian destinations including Halifax, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver as well as to US destinations including Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.
The carrier has been on-line at Copenhagen several times before, offering seasonal summer flight schedules only.
Expectations are, however, that Air Canada is entering the Danish market with year-round services this time.
-The demand for air travel between Denmark and North America, including Canada, has been increasing over the past years regardless of economic fluctuations and currency issues, says Carsten Norland, Copenhagen Airport director sales.
-Together with a range of Danish organizations promoting incoming tourism, Copenhagen Airport is investing much effort in marketing Denmark and Copenhagen as an attractive destination also beyond the summer season, and we are convinced that Canada will also draw much attention from Danish consumers as to sports, events, general tourism and travel experience.
-Trade between Denmark and North America is also steadily increasing, and experience shows that North American business companies with European and Scandinavian trade are very often interested in locating their HQ in Copenhagen, says Mr Norland.
The news of the reopening of flights between the two destinations comes soon after the signing earlier in December of a new air transport agreement between EU and Canada, allowing for liberal air services between the two entities.
