Dec 16, 2009 (newstodate): Boeing's Dreamliner, Boeing 787, is now in the air with a successful first flight on December 15, 2009.
So far more then two years late, the Boeing 787 will now start its comprehensive certification program involving six aircraft to test out any operation within the corners of the flight envelope.
If no snags occur during the test flight series, Boeing says it will deliver the first Dreamliner to launch customer ANA one year from now, in Q4/2010.
Also in the Dreamliner-segment, Airbus plans for the A350 to perform its first flight in early 2012, with first delivery of the A350 XWB to Qatar Airways by mid-2013.
