Dec 22, 2009 (newstodate): Plans are on the table for construction of a new cargo terminal at Russia's Astrakhan Narimanovo Airport.
Azerbaijan's AZAL Airlines is to assist the Russian airport in designing the new terminal, based on its recent experiences from construction of a similar complex at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
An agreement was reached between representatives from the two parties during a recent visit by Astakhan officials to Baku, and the parties also agreed to boost air cargo growth between them.
AZAL Airlines currently operates two weekly rotations between Baku and Astrakhan, and plans to add a third flight early in 2010.
