Nov 16, 2009 (newstodate): In contrast to some other Slovakian carriers like SkyEurope and Seagle Air that lost steam in 2009, Air Slovakia is bent on sustained development.
In October 2006, UK Indian-born resident Harjinder Singh Sidhu took ownership of Air Slovakia, and the carrier has since developed operations in the charter and ACMI segments.
Based at Bratislava, Slovakia, Air Slovakia also operates own scheduled services between Amritsar, India, and Italy and Spain and has plans for further expansion.
The carrier is also expecting lease negotiations with lessors to be finalised imminently for the delivery of one Boeing 737-300 in Dec 09, to be followed by two Boeing 737-800 aircraft in spring 2010.
Air Slovakia will further be introducing its first wide-body aircraft in 2010, and talks are currently being conducted with various lessors for delivery of two Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
