Nov 19, 2009 (newstodate): After a pause, SAS is returning to Vilnius, Lithuania, from January 11, 2010.
SAS will offer two daily return flights with CRJ aircraft between Copenhagen and Vilnius, competing with the Latvian carrier airBaltic that entered the route from June, 2004.
The carrier suspended services on the route from the launch of the winter schedule 2005-2006.
-This is actually the first new route opening after a period of retraction in the aftermath of the financial crisis, says Per Moller Jensen, SAS marketing and sales director Denmark.
-After airBaltic and SAS have ended their cooperation concerning code-share agreements and mileage program from this autumn, the new route will be an own SAS flight.
Mr Moller Jensen does not preclude further new route openings into regions including the Baltics from Copenhagen.
