Nov 10, 2009 (newstodate): Russian carrier's air safety record has improved through 2009.
During the first nine months of this year, Russia has seen the number of aviation incidents down by 11 percent, aviation accidents have been reduced by one-third, and hull damages have dropped by 20 percent, compared to last year.
Statistics also prove that 63 percent of the incidents and accidents reported were due to cockpit crews' human errors, 25 percent were caused by maintenance problems, while the remaining 12 percent are still under investigation.
The improvement in aviation safety so far into 2009 may also reflect the retreat from service by many under-financed Russian airlines that were forced out of business by the financial crisis since the latter part of 2008.
