Nov 27, 2009 (newstodate): Construction of a new passenger terminal at Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, in Romania, is progressing, and the complex will be commissioned in December 2010.
With the opening of the terminal, the airport's annual handling capacity will increase to six million passengers.
Work on the project started this autumn, and costs estimated at around 150 mio euro will be covered by the airport itself.
The terminal will have 24 passenger gates, and the handling capacity of the airport will rise from today's 1,100 to 2,250 per hour when the terminal goes into operation.
The airport's existing Schengen and international departure halls will be expanded by November 2001, with work to expand also the Schengen and international arrival halls to be completed in 2012.
